Marty Schilsky

Marty Schilsky

Marty Schlisky was born in New York and raised as a conservative Jew.  He went to Hebrew school for 12 years to study the Torah.  As a young man, he was the cantor on a U.S. Navy Guided Missile Cruiser. Marty has been involved with music, both playing the piano and writing songs.  Before the LORD called him into salvation in 1991, he was a successful businessman in the Washington, DC area.  He came to Yeshua (Jesus) supernaturally in 1991 during a time of great stress in his life.  He became a member of a Messianic congregation, O’hev Y’Israel in Springfield, Virginia and in 2001 the LORD called he and his wife Karen to North Carolina.  They became members of Grace Covenant Church in Beulaville until 2003,when the LORD directed their steps into Wilmington, North Carolina. They planted Beth Simcha and Marty was ordained as the congregational leader here in the city of Wilmington.

The vision of Beth Simcha is that of the first century Synagogue, as Messiah would have known it. Marty believes the greatest call on any individual or church or Messianic congregation is to go out into the entire world to spread the gospel of Messiah.  Marty has been to several nations: Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Israel, preaching the gospel and has been invited to several Christian churches to bring the message of One New Man, both Jew and Gentile into Messiah.

Marty has 2 children and is married to Karen, who is also a songwriter and worship leader.  Karen’s mother was a holocaust survivor.  Both Marty and Karen teach on the Jewish roots of our faith.

Calvin Kaiser

Calvin Kaiser

Calvin Kaiser began his “walk with HaShem” at the age of 30, after the LORD miraculously delivered him from years of alcoholism. A former south Bronx, N.Y.C. firefighter, Calvin spent 16 years in the mental health field, ministering to the psychiatric community in a heterogeneous capacity including, but not limited to: alcohol and drug rehab counseling and high-risk community patient intervention.  Calvin has been active in the “Body of Messiah” for 23 years, the last eight exclusive to the Messianic movement.  He is a current doctoral candidate attending St. Petersburg Seminary; a student at the Yeshiva “Netzer” program, chaired by the eminent Jewish scholar, Dr. John Fischer, past presidents of the UMJC.  Calvin has been a guest speaker, and taught at local churches and community events, bringing Jewish and Messianic insight into the dialogue of Biblical faith.  His primary role however, is the continuing challenge to improve as a husband, father, and talmid (disciple) of Yeshua HaMashiach.
